The Mobile World Congress has ended. I am leaving Barcelona tomorrow morning for my long due holiday. I will be spending another week travelling Europe, so before I go, here’s some thought on the MWC :

Nokia announced a couple new devices, i.e. the N96 and N78. I am very much impressed with new Windows Mobile Device from Sony Ericsson, the X1 Xperia (looks very cool!). Motorola is disappointing with almost nothing to show. Interesting low cost phone from Spice with no screen at all – aimed as the People’s Phone which claimed to be in market for as low as USD 10-20 soon. I will not go into too much detail as many others have done better. You can find most of the coverage here.
On technology side, I managed to have a look at the touch interface for Symbian s60 - not too impressive yet and no actual device demo is shown. Nokia showed off its new map application which is just out of beta. You can now download beta version of Map 2.0 here.
On content & application, we see the same old content players and not much new innovation.
Need to note that Telkomsel do not have any data roaming in Barcelona and I have to rely on Excelcom which roam flawlessly with Vodafon.es – all SMS delivered smoothly and 3G coverage was excellent.
